If you need more than an app

Unbottle is a tracker. It is not a crisis service and nobody is watching it. If you are in danger, or you think this is a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

Withdrawal from heavy daily drinking can be medically serious. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop rather than after it starts going wrong.

Common questions

Why won't the morning-after estimator tell me if I can drive?

Because no app can, and a number that looks like permission is the most dangerous thing it could show you. The estimator answers a narrower question — whether there is likely to be alcohol left in your body — and it answers it pessimistically on purpose, assuming everything you drank was absorbed at your last drink. Only time makes you sober. Never treat the readout as a basis for driving or operating anything.

Why does it ask for my weight?

The estimate cannot be made without it. It is stored with your profile so you are not asked twice, it is never sent to analytics, and the estimate itself — the figure, the drink count, the time — leaves no trace anywhere. See the privacy policy.

I paid, but Pro is locked on my new phone

Open Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases, and check you are signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase. If the receipt is still being processed, wait a moment and try again.

How do I cancel a subscription or a free trial?

In the App Store rather than in Unbottle: the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends or it renews. Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription inside the app takes you there.

How do I get my data out, or delete it?

Settings → Data → Export my data writes your whole history — profile, every day, every drink, every slip and craving — as JSON or three CSV files. Settings → Data → Delete all my data destroys it permanently; it tells you how many days are about to go first. Both are free and need no subscription.

Removing the app from your iPhone is not the same as deleting your data: the stored copy stays until it is deleted, and a reinstall starts a new anonymous ID instead of reconnecting. Delete first if you want it gone, or email us and we will handle it.

I logged a drink that never happened

Tap the day on the calendar and fix the count. Every past day stays editable, free, forever.

Unbottle offers general information and habit support. It isn't medical advice and it isn't a substitute for a doctor — if you're unwell or worried, please talk to one. The AUDIT-C questions in setup are a screening tool, not a diagnosis.
